A travel nurse guide to a San Diego contract

Travel nurses are one of the largest groups staying in mid-term rentals in San Diego. The decision usually comes down to three things: how far the drive is at shift-change hours, whether parking is included, and whether the space actually supports sleeping during the day.

Drive times to major campuses

• From Clairemont: Sharp Memorial and Rady Children's about 10 minutes, Scripps La Jolla and UCSD about 15, Kaiser Clairemont Mesa under 10.
• From El Cajon: Sharp Grossmont about 10 minutes, Alvarado about 15, Kaiser San Diego about 20.

What to ask before you commit

• Is parking free and off-street? Both of our homes include it.
• Are utilities and Wi-Fi included in the monthly rate?
• Is there in-unit laundry, or shared machines?
• How dark and quiet is the bedroom during the day for night-shift sleep?

Documentation

Most agencies will ask for a signed agreement and proof of address for stipend purposes. We handle the lease and payment off-platform, so you get standard paperwork rather than a booking-platform receipt.
