What to look for in a rental

• A dedicated workspace, not a kitchen table.
• High-speed Wi-Fi and a backup hotspot plan.
• In-unit laundry so weekends are not errands.
• Free parking, because most San Diego trips involve a car.

Places to work outside the house

Clairemont and Kearny Mesa have plenty of independent coffee shops, and downtown, UTC, and La Mesa all have coworking day passes if you need a conference room or a change of scenery.
